Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American TV reporter, journalist anchor and commentator for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language and culture from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was hired by KYW Radio and TV as the Philadelphia reporter in 1967. 1976 Mitchell became a reporter for WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). She was hired by NBC News Washington two years after that as a general reporter. From 1981 onwards, she began reporting on the White House. In 1988 she was named chief congressional reporter. She became chief White House reporter in 1992, and chief Foreign Affairs correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist and anchor of the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the debates in 1988 between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell won the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 from the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the first reporter to cover White House stories for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's tenure as president from 1981-1988. She covered a wide range of interesting stories such as arms control the budget tax reform and the Iran-contra scandal. She also traveled extensively together with the president Reagan for summits together with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world heads.
